Pink Pigs, Who Knew..

Shortly after my family moved to the Atlanta area, we found ourselves completely in love with the variety of holiday shopping experiences available close to a big city.  We moved from the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, and had to drive hours to find a big mall, or the many small unique shops that are plentiful in our new home town.  While still living in Virginia we dropped in at the local Big Lots to look for bargains on decorations, and that was the first time we laid our eyes on the lighted Santa Pig.  At first I thought it was the oddest looking Christmas decoration I had ever seen, but it slowly grew on me, and Anjey just loved it.  We didn't pick Santa Pig up then, but I did go back to buy one for Anjey.  Unfortunately they had sold out, and I could not find one anywhere.  So last year for Christmas, I once again began the quest to find a Santa Pig, and the Big Lots in Snellville had one left.  Christmas was saved!  We are slowly becoming a bit more enthusiastic with holiday outdoor decorating, and prior to getting Santa Pig, we didn't really decorate outdoors at all, so the first year, Santa Pig sat in the front yard alone, yet majestic in his holiday spirit.  This also led to our neighbors telling us about Pink Pig at Lenox Square, which was an Atlanta tradition that began with Rich's Department Store, which became Macy's.  The Pink Pig ride began in 1950, and the original Pink Pig's name is Priscilla.  Here is a link to the website for Priscilla just in case anyone would be interested in taking a ride on one of Atlanta's favorite holiday traditions.
