Packing Tips For Home Buyers

Packing Tips
Use colored packing tape to organize boxes.  Give the movers a key code sheet of which colors go to which rooms.

Use laundry hampers, and suitcases to pack.

Clothing and linens are great for packing dishes and other fragile belongings, and will save from buying bubble wrap.

Write on each box what the contents are.  You may also consider numbering boxes and making a spreadsheet of box contents to help find things you need as you are unpacking.

Place any labels or markings on the side of your boxes to make it easier to see when boxes are stacked.

Refrigerator hints.  Defrost the day before moving to avoid leaking.  Wrap the refrigerator with plastic wrap to keep the door closed.

Take a picture of wiring on electronic devices to remember how to hook everything up in your new home.

Pack plates vertically with a styrofoam plate between them to avoid breakage.

Cut a 3-4 inch triangle on two sides of a box to create handles, making it much easier to carry.
